MORPHO x Horta House
An encounter between contemporary design and Art Nouveau
With Morpho, the high-end lifestyle brand by Tomorrowland’s Design Studio, Dieter Vander Velpen has developed a design language rooted in unity — where architecture, objects, and atmosphere are conceived as one continuous whole. That vision finds a natural counterpart in the Horta House, the former home and studio of Victor Horta and a defining masterpiece of Art Nouveau.
Set within this UNESCO-listed landmark, the collaboration unfolds as a dialogue between contemporary design and historical architecture. Horta’s vision unites architecture, ornament and craftsmanship into a harmonious whole, a way of thinking that strongly resonates with Morpho’s own philosophy. “From the beginning, we wanted to create a collection that acts as an extension of an architectural language,” says Vander Velpen. “A world where furniture, lighting, and space are experienced as one.”
Photographing the collection inside the Horta House offered a rare opportunity to engage directly with the essence of Art Nouveau. Immersion in the space revealed a deeper understanding of its principles: the fluidity of movement, the precision of detail, and the enduring influence of nature as a source of inspiration. These same qualities are embedded in Morpho’s designs, where organic forms, sculpted materials, and intricate metalwork echo the rhythms and structures found throughout Horta’s interiors.
These same qualities are embedded in Morpho’s designs. Organic forms, sculpted materials, and intricate metalwork echo the rhythms and structures found throughout Horta’s interiors. For this occasion, selected pieces were carefully adapted to respond to their surroundings. Fabrics were chosen room by room, ensuring each tone and texture complemented existing materials within the house. Warm ochres, deep reds, and subtle natural patterns create a visual continuity that feels inherently connected to the space. The textile selection includes fabrics from Elitis and Pierre Frey, as well as Guillin from the Dieter Vander Velpen x Zinc collection, reinforcing the timeless and tactile quality central to Morpho’s aesthetic.
The collaboration, initiated by the people behind the Horta Museum, who reached after Morpho's launch in Milan, quickly revealed itself as a natural fit. “There’s a shared origin in nature, in movement, in craftsmanship,” Vander Velpen notes. “From the moment we installed the first pieces, everything clicked into place.”
More than a visual exercise, Morpho x Horta House reflects an ongoing exploration of how design languages evolve over time. By placing contemporary objects within one of Art Nouveau’s most iconic environments, the project honours its origins while extending its vocabulary into the present.
About Morpho
Morpho, a high-end lifestyle brand that aspires to create a contemporary Art Nouveau collection of furniture, fixtures, and accessories for the home. Morpho is created by Tomorrowland Design Studio, under the creative direction of architect Dieter Vander Velpen. The collection merges contemporary design with the organic spirit of Art Nouveau, drawing from nature’s own geometry — from the delicate structure of dragonfly wings to the curves of roots, branches and flowing voronoi patterns. Each piece is shaped through Belgian craftsmanship, as Ethnicraft translates Morpho’s sculptural language into refined woodwork, Atelier Vierkant forms hand- crafted ceramic planters with natural depth, and rvb® brings the brand’s intricate, nature‑driven geometry to life in a series of artisanal faucets. Morpho brings tactile, timeless objects where natural forms, material poetry and craftsmanship converge into a contemporary expression of wonder.
