Montevideo offices: Where heritage meets innovation
Morpho in Montevideo

Located in the historic Montevideowijk on Antwerp’s Eilandje waterfront, the Montevideo Offices transform one of the district’s 19th‑century maritime warehouses into a contemporary creative hub. Once the backbone of the city’s harbour economy, the neighbourhood is now evolving into a vibrant cultural district - a renewal marked by restored heritage buildings, redesigned public spaces and new mixed‑use developments.

Within this context, the Montevideo warehouse has been reimagined as a warm, atmospheric and highly crafted workplace. Designed by Tomorrowland’s Great Library design studio, with Antwerp‑based architect Dieter Van der Velpen as creative lead, and developed in collaboration with Life and OYO Architecture, the project bridges industrial heritage with future‑oriented design. The surrounding landscape was shaped by LAND landschapsarchitecten, integrating the building into the renewed waterfront setting.

A significant portion of the building now houses the Tomorrowland Headquarters, forming the heart of a larger creative ecosystem. The design embraces the monumental scale of the warehouse while introducing refined, intimate spatial layers. Light, shadow, tactile materials and deep tonal contrasts create a cinematic environment that resonates with Tomorrowland’s immersive, story‑driven identity - without replicating its iconic visual language.
The headquarters supports a community of up to 570 creative professionals across multidisciplinary teams. Open collaboration areas transition seamlessly into focus zones, quiet meeting nooks and informal gathering spaces. A central bar acts as a social anchor throughout the day, while a rooftop terrace offers expansive views over the revitalized docks and the evolving Eilandje district.

With its careful balance of preservation and transformation, the Montevideo Offices demonstrate how adaptive reuse can elevate industrial heritage into meaningful contemporary architecture. The project restores the warehouse’s historic character while shaping an inspiring, future‑ready creative environment. This marks a new chapter in the ongoing renaissance of the Montevideowijk.

Morpho in Montevideo
Within the transformed Montevideo warehouse, Morpho brings warmth, tactility and a sense of crafted simplicity to the monumental space. Its furniture pieces introduce sculptural softness that balances the raw industrial shell, creating inviting islands for collaboration, reflection and connection. Morpho taps add a refined, minimalist elegance to the bathroom areas, while the planters weave nature throughout the interior, softening transitions and grounding each zone with organic calm.
Together, these elements help shape a workspace that feels both soulful and functional. A place where materiality, nature and creativity coexist seamlessly. Morpho’s presence enriches the architectural narrative of the new Tomorrowland Headquarters, adding depth, texture and a living warmth that resonates with the spirit of the space.
